I have encountered a lot of errors while editing my videos. I use Avid Media Composer in doing these edits. In my quest for finding the solution, I started seeking it in Avid sites. Kindly help me as soon as possible in providing remedies for these errors for I am helpless at this point.
Here are the error messages I have been given :
• Painter not active, aborted
• Exception: std: exception, what: out of range in Mac2Qt :PopUpMenuSelect: popUpItem == 4
• An ACCESS_VIOLATION exception occurred. For more information see the error log : C:UserPublicDocumentsAvidMediaComposerAvidFatalErrorReportsException2012.01.08_13.42.0

I think I can be able to help you with your query since several other people have experienced it.
The error message such as 'Painter not active, aborted' simply means the painter application may have been disabled by the software or perhaps not supported. Another error may be due to a bug in your computer. What you can do is uninstall the application, while deleting everything in the temporary files and in the registry and reinstall the software. You will do the following to uninstall the software from the temporary folder;
Go to Start -> My Computer -> Local disk C: -> Program Files -> *86 -> Avid -> Avid Media Composer
Delete all the files under the folder. In registry, go to HKEYLOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREAvidAvid Media Composer
Delete all the files under that folder.
Reinstall the software and it should be working.
