Hi Techs,

I do not know if any one of you are familiar with the software Acoustica. It is a program in which you can record music whether it be acoustic, then you can blend your own voice with it.I am using a headset with it. I tried recording. I am singing and all along, it is not actually capturing my voice.I tried it in a call, specifically in Gtalk, but unfortunately, my friend on the other line cannot hear me.

Well, first and foremost, I made sure that I am not on mute. I do not have another headset to try. I just want to know if there are other ways for me to isolate the issue and find out where the problem really lies.

Appreciate if somebody can answer.

Hey there, Karmen here!

There are a few things you can try to isolate and determine the problem you are having

  1. Try your mic to another computer, try using it with another computer and determine, perhaps the mic itself is broken and is in need of proper replacement.
  2. If the above passes and your mic is actually working, test your sound card, perhaps the port that connects the mic is already broken, try using a working headset on your PC and see if it works. If it doesn't, there might be a problem with your sound card and may need replacement.
  3. Update your sound cards driver, try updating it over the internet to make sure you have the latest driver updates to patch possible errors in the cards’ driver. You might also try uninstalling and installing your sound card driver, this usually fixes this kind of problem.

In computer, whenever the problem is related to sound or audio, the hardware that needs to be checked is the sound card. Since your problem is with your voice which can’t be recorded, check that the microphone plug is connected properly to the microphone jack of your sound card at the back of your CPU.

If the microphone is not plugged in properly, you won’t be able to capture or record your voice. If this doesn’t work, try to uninstall and reinstall your sound card driver. Download the free version of Revo Uninstaller and install it. Once installed, start Revo Uninstaller then select your sound card driver among the applications and click “Uninstall”. Follow the normal uninstall process.

When you are prompted to restart the computer, click to restart later. When uninstall is complete, click “Scan” to scan your computer for any leftover files and delete everything it finds. This removes everything the program created on your computer. When it is finished, close Revo Uninstaller then restart the computer. After booting, install the sound card driver back and see if it works.

Also, try updating your sound card driver. On the other hand, if the problem is not your microphone and you can hear your voice on your headset as you speak, check the application you are using to record your voice. On your application, go to “Settings” then navigate to the location of the audio or sound capture device. Make sure your sound card is selected.
