I am Unable to install MS Office 2010 on my Mac

With the use of windows 7 Ultimate through parallels 6 on my Mac that uses Snow Leopard operating system, the machine works perfectly. But an attempt to install MS office 2010 was unsuccessful and only produced the error message shown:

"Setup cannot find the required setup controller file. Either there was a network error, and error reading from the CD, DVD, or other installation media, or a problem with the package you downloaded."

I tried various installation methods that did not help, these include: use of installation DVD, copying the installation setup from the DVD and running setup.exe, copying the DVD files onto a shared folder on a server and connecting to it, installing other versions of MS office 2010 (32-bit and 64-bit), and lastly copying the DVD as image and then mounting it in the Virtual Machine (VM).  Each of the methods applied to install MS office 2010 returned the same error message. The MS Office 2010 however installs and works well on a PC. Am I right in thinking the problem is a result of Parallels 7. Please help with a solution.

Hello Jimenez

Ensure that you have connected Parallels with your DVD. To do this, click on Parallels and then go to Devices> DVD. Then click on your DVD drive. Launch the command prompt and then enter the DVD drive and type setup.exe and press Enter.

Hope you will recover it. Thanks

Here are some options:

a) Buy an Apple external DVD drive for your Macbook Air. You can buy one here: http://store.apple.com/us/search?find=Apple+MacBook+Air+SuperDrive#

b) Use a DVD drive on another computer to install it.

c) Contact Microsoft to find a version of MS office that is compatible with a Mac OS. https://support.microsoft.com/contactus/?ws=mscom
