Normally if there's a firmware update for your data card the Huawei Mobile partner software will inform you. And then you can download it and install it by following the given steps. If it doesn't show any update you can always manually search the internet for an update. But possibility of finding the correct update is very low.
Anyway my advice is if you have no problems with the data card, like not connecting to internet or such things there's no need to update firmware manually. It's taking a risk unnecessarily. But if the data card software shows there's an update it's safe to update your firmware using that.
