I have a HP Pavilion dv6000 CTO laptop with a webcam. But my webcam isn't working. I can't use it in Skype and windows doesn't recognize it.

I have installed cyberlink YouCam utility for Vista, but it is the same. Please help.

Hi Helenmarmstead,

On any kind of device, you have to install drivers for it to function properly. Most of the time, laptop cameras function well even though you haven't installed any drivers for them. Since the camera is not recognizing the device, try to install drivers for it. You can use free software, such as Drivermax, to find drivers.

Other Solutions:

Try and install the default HP software rather than installing youcam.

Hey Helenmarmstead, hello there.

Man you seemed to have to install drivers as your new Operating System is not able to get your webcam. Here are the links to the HP Support page 1 and  here is the direct link to webcam driver for windows vista from HP website.

Regards Ian M tyner.
