Hi  Muench Don,

Replacing a word through whole document in Word 2010 can be very helpful especially if you consistently misspell a word in a large document in Word 2010. The following steps that I will show to you will make you realize that getting rid- off with those wrong word or phrase in your document is just a piece of cake.

1. In the Home Tab of Word 2010, find the Editing group which is located in the right side, in between the Styles group and Proofing group.

2. Click the Editing group and select Replace. By now, the Find and Replace window should appear.

3. Under the replace tab, type the word or phrase that you want to be replaced (the wrong word/phrase) in the “Find what” dialog box and type the word or phrase that you want to replace to the original text (the wrong word/phrase) in the “Replace with” dialog box.

4. Click the “Replace All” button and by this moment a window will notify you that it already replace all the original text present in the document with the typed word or phrase in the “Replace with” dialog box.

5. Press the OK button and you are done!

Important Reminders:

  • If you do not put anything on the “Replace with” dialog box, all ‘the wrong word/phrase” will be replaced with nothing! (This could lead to a more serious problem)
  • Be careful that the word that you want to be replaced is not a part of another word. For example: You replace the word “its” with “it’s”, if you select the “Replace All” button all of the “fits” word will be replaced with “fit’s”.
  • Use “Find Next” button in the Replace tab if you want to manually replace a word or phrase.

According to you requirement it can be changed a wrong word which is everywhere in a Microsoft word sheet very easily. You are able to follow the following steps in order to get the results.

I will take the following word sheet as an example. In that sheet the word “click” has been wrongly typed as “cilck” in five places. (The position of the Letters “ i ” and “ l ” has been changed).

In that word sheet use the Ctrl + F function.

Then a dialog box will be appeared.

Click on the Replace tab and type the “cilck” as Find word, “click” as replace with.

Now click replace all.

Click no for the next message and click the dialog box.

Now you can see all the 5 wrong words (cilck) have been replaced with the word “click” as follows.

(I have highlighted those words from purple color.)

Provided that your whole document is free of all other errors like grammatical errors and spelling errors, you can use the Ginger checker to correct that single wrong word about which you have mentioned in your question. This software is a grammar and a spell checker. You will just have to download it using the link and then install it.

Once this is done, you open your document and press f2. Now Ginger Grammar and Spell Checker will itself start reading your whole document and when it reads that ‘’wrong’’ word it will show you a dialog box. In that dialog box you will just have to click ‘’Approve’’. This will automatically change your wrong word to the correct word.

The download link to Ginger Software is http://www.gingersoftware.com/.The screenshots below show how Ginger will identify the mistake and how you will correct it.
