How will Finder mount sftp Mac OS Lion, which will give us a GUI solution through file browser functionality like the ability to drag and drop files between the local machine and the SFTP server.

So that it behaves like ordinary folder.  Please guide me.

Hello Austin,

In Mac OS Lion you can easily mount SFTP share using Finder.

Follow the guide lines below and you will be successfully able to mount using SFTP.

  • First you need to download OSXFuse to your MAC.

Download OSXFuse

  • Install OSXFuse and while installing in ‘Installation Type’ step make sure to tick MacFUSE Compatibility Layer checkbox which is untick by default.
  • Now get the Mac Fusion using the below link.

Download Macfusion application

  • Now add a new Macfusion share by expanding the plus icon and choosing SSHFS.
  • Now enter your data and select ‘OK’ and then ‘Mount’.
  • In the Finder press ‘cmd+r’ to show your shares
  • Also you can edit file here without downloading which is a great feature.
  • Remember sometimes this won’t work so then you need to restart your Mac and add files again with Macfusion.
  • Advance you can also see the mounted volume on desktop. For that you need to go to the ‘Preferences’ in the Finder and tick ‘Connected Servers’.

Thank you.
