After opening the file I want to use, the screencap button is disabled. It is the icon that looks like a camera. Is there any other way to use my Adobe Photoshop designs in VLC?

It seems that the problem here is not with your Adobe Photoshop but with the application you used to capture your design which is opened in Adobe Photoshop. If the screen capture button is disabled when you opened the program then maybe there is something wrong or something is different that’s why it can’t make a capture of the present screen. If this is the first time you’ll be using that program in capturing a screenshot then just use the print screen button from your keyboard which works the same.

You should also check the settings of the program you are using to see if it is configured properly and can capture a screenshot. If you want to use your Photoshop designs as skin for your VLC media player, you must first learn the basic principle of creating the skin for the player. A VLC’s skin is made up of many PNG images [Portable Network Graphics] or files for the player’s different state of the controls, TTF font files, and an XML file describing the logical structure of the skin [which bitmaps correspond to which controls, where to place buttons, sliders, and so on] and its behavior [what happens when the user clicks on a button, etc.].

For more information on creating VLC media player skin, you may visit VideoLAN Organization | HowTo create your own skin. And also, visit VideoLAN Organization | Skins if you wish to download some skins for your VLC media player and also to download the VLC Skin Editor.
