You can follow the following steps to create an access point on your Vista –

1. Open Network and Sharing Center (Start > Network > Network and Sharing Center)

2. Select Manage wireless networks.

3. Click Add.

4. Select Create an ad hoc network.

5. Click Next.

6. Enter a network name.

7. Select a security type.

8. Enter a security key or passphrase

9. Select Save this network if you wish to save this network for later use.

10. Click Next.

On Successful completion you will get the following screen on your machine.

Clicking on "Turn on Internet connection sharing" will enable this network to perform as an Internet access point, and all the users you wish to share the Internet connection with, you can ask to join this network by providing the network security key.

Hope this help.! 🙂
