Microsoft Security Essentials works for me much pretty well, it is free and above all updates are also free. It is best if you will uninstall McAfee once you have the MSE installed. Microsoft Security Essentials works perfectly when combined with Super anti spyware program, it may not have a real time scanner like MSE but it is perfect for removing viruses and spyware already on your computer or any other thing that may have affected the MSE. 

 

This software is also free with an option for a pay for version which is not really necessary with MSE installed.

 

For improved security use Firefox if you are not already using it, it is more secure than Internet Explorer and there are several Adds-on I recommend for it. First the WOT (Web of Trust) and the other is Adblock Plus, you can search for them on Google, I have also included their links below.
