My friend forwarded me his PDF files in rar format. I don’t have rar file extractor, so he told me that I can open it with winzip but my old version of winzip is not opening rar files. Is it possible to download rar extractor for free. Please advice on How to open rar file with PDF.

Most definitely there are lots of free versions of WinRAR, both for laptop and mobile, available online. With rar programs not only can you extract contents from rar files but also from zip files. You can also download evaluation versions as well. You can use WinRAR the same way as you use WinZip. If you search on Google you will have plenty of options to download from.
As for your old WinZip program, I suggest you either upgrade it or replace it with WinRAR. Hope it helps.
