Hello,

As u mentioned, installation of damn small Linux (DSL) is a risky process. Here is the procedure on how to go about it:

  • Create an application 250-300MB Linux partition with cfdisk or fdisk
  • Boot into Damn Small Linux from CD and enter the terminal
  • Execute “dls-hdinstall” by typing “sudo –u root dls-hdinstall” (with no quotes) and enter the created partition.
  • Execute “mkliloboot” by typing “sudo –u root mkliloboot” (with no quotes). Enter the partition that you install it on. This creates “initrd” and sets up “LILO”.

Thank you.

Hi Ohammer,

DSL is a very versatile 50MB mini desktop oriented Linux.

Damn Small is small enough and smart enough to do the following things:

  • Boot from a CD as a LiveCD
  • Boot from a USB flash drive
  • Boot from within a host operating system
  • Run a 486DX with 16MB of Ram
  • Run fully in RAM
  • DSL is highly extendable without the have to customize

Thanks For Asking.
