Hi, Madison,

Which AVG version you are using? I am using Full AVG AntiVirus 2013. It is working fine for me.

Try to reinstall OS.

Hi Madison,

I have been using AVG on my computer for a long time now and as far as effectiveness is concerned, for me AVG is very effective.

I have experienced numerous times where AVG would notify me if the website I was visiting or the program I was downloading had a virus then it would give me an option whether to ignore or take an action.

And so far my PC is virus-free.

I also use AVG to clean errors and if AVG can do it on my PC, it should also be able to clean your PC. If for some reason you can’t remove the virus on your computer, you can use the AVG PC Tune up to clean and speed up your PC.

You can download it once for free.

Hi Madison,

Is your AVG a free version or a paid one? If it's a free version, I strongly suggest to get a paid AVG version. Not only that it is more effective, you can also contact their Technical Support if anything goes wrong.

Also, keep your AVG updated, so it will recognize new types of virus definition and other malicious software. If you're already done with this step, you can also try to adjust the security settings.

Adjust the security level to a higher level, maybe. You can also refer to articles here, for more references.
