Hi, techyv.com experts I need a favor that I need to know How do I change my IP address?

I use a computer with windows XP & with broadband Internet connection & I got an IP address automatically from my Internet service providers now I need to do change it.

I need to do it manually with

IP address

Subnet mask

Default gateway

Preferred DNS

Alternate DNS

I changed this type of  above objects

IP address   148.42.145.185

Subnet mask  255.0.0.0

Default gateway 148.42.145.1

Preferred DNS 116.193.170.5

Alternate DNS 116.193.170.6

After that I did not have any Internet connection & then I had to turn on automatic IP address connection. Really can I get an IP address in this way & if so then which code on that like Default gateway, Preferred DNS can I use them?

I need to change very badly. Help please

Basically I need to do change my IP address Changed Manually without any Software. If you can help me then please

Thanks

The procedure for changing the IP address is simple, just do the following:

  • On your computer click on the network identity icon in the bottom left corner of the desktop.
  • Click on 'open network and sharing center'.
  • Click on change adapter settings.
  • There will be various networks displayed in the next window that will open.
  • Click on the network that you want to configure.
  • And then click on TCP/IP version 6.
  • The next window will have places where you will fill the IP address, subnet mask, gateway and DNS server settings. Just enter then appropriately and then apply the settings.
