Hi Brent_pat,

  • You need to go through the following steps to make a password reset disk.
  • Press the 'Start' / 'Windows' button and go to 'control Panel' .
  • Click on the 'User Accounts' .
  • On the user accounts page click on the 'Create a password reset disk' link. It will be on the left side panel.
  • Next select the drive where u want to make the password reset disk.
  • Provide current user password.
  • Pressing 'Next ' will create a password reset disk for you.

Good luck.

Thanks for the effort mate but I think something went wrong. Because when I’m pressing on the “Create a password reset disk” an error message box appears that shows: “This feature requires removable media such as…..”. I know I’m asking for a lot but since I’m new to this password reset thing, I thought it will be safe to ask anyone, before moving forward.

Ooops! my mistake. I forgot to tell you that, you will need a pen drive / flash drive to do that. Your password reset disk file will be saved in that pen drive. So connect the pen drive and try clicking the link again.

I managed to do it to some extent. But now it is showing another error message saying: “There is already a password reset disk for this user account. ” What to do now?

It seems you have a password reset disk for the same user account, you are trying to make one. May be someone else made it. If you still want to make a new password reset disk then press “Yes”, it will cause no harm. You can also press “No” as it will stop password reset disk creating procedure and you can still use the old one that is already in your pen drive.
