Could you please help me with my dilemma? When I installed Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) in my laptop, my Internet connection ceased working. I always get Error 769: “The specified destination is not reachable.” Thank you in advance for your response.

Hi Zafira,

If you are getting the error and not able to connect to the internet, please do check and follow the steps below:

Please do check if your network cable is connected and secure. You can try to reseat the network cable to be sure

  1. Make sure that your network cable is enabled. To check, go to Start > Run > Type ncpa.cpl > Ok > Right click on your Local Area Connection > Enable.
  2. Reset the modem by turning it off and on.
  3. Remove and reinstall the modem and its driver by using Device manager. To do this, go to Start > Run > Type sysdm.cpl > Ok > Hardware tab > Device Manager > Network Adapters > Right click on your network adapter > Uninstall > Ok > Yes > Restart Computer or Click on Action > Scan for hardware changes > install the latest drivers for the adapter.
