By using telnet command, we can check if a port is open on our network. After entering the command if we get a blank screen then it means that the port is open.

Method 1- For checking if port is open.

Step 1: Click on Start.

Step 2: Select Control Panel.

Step 3: Choose Programs.

Step 4: Click Programs and Features.

Step 5: Select Turn Windows features on or off.

Step 6: Allow Telnet Client and Telnet Server.

Step 7: Click OK.

Method 2- To close a port.

Step 1: Click on Start button and then Control Panel.

Step 2: Go to Security and on the Windows Firewall settings then save it.

Step 3: Select Exceptions through the Menu.

Step 4: Find port 21 and remove it.
