I have stored a lot of important files in my pendrive that has been corrupted. Now whenever I try to open the pen drive it asks for formatting. I know that if I format it, I would definitely lose my important files forever. Please suggest that how I can get my files back.

Hi,

Arthur hope the following steps will guide you in fixing this issue.

  • Recovering the Data from the Pen Drive can be done simply by using the Data Recovery software which can be described as an easy way and simple to use for recovering the data.
  • Now Undelete the Pen Drive Tool in which it does not require any one of the specialized skills as the Software mainly consists of steps which are simple while recovering the lost/deleted data as follows:
  • Plug in the Pen drives using USB port in your Computer System.
  • Install the demo version of the software and then run the software.
  • Software will be displayed on your Pen Drive/Disk.
  • Select the Pen Drive connected and proceed further.
  • These are the steps to be followed for recovering the data from the pen drive.
Thank you.

There are many recoveries and undelete tools you can download from the internet. I recommend Recuva because it's freeware.

You can find it here: http://www.piriform.com/recuva (Download size approx. 2.5 MB)

1. Downloaded Recuva, install it onto your system and then run it.

2. Make sure the corrupted pen drive is connected to your PC.

3. In the Recuva Wizard select the file type you are looking to recover (pictures/music/documents/etc.). If you are unsure select (other) and it will search for all files. Click on Next.Downloaded Recuva install it onto your system

4. On the next screen where the Wizard asks you where the file is located tick the (In a specific location) option and click on (Browse). Look for your pendrive and click on it then click on (Next).Wizard asks you where the file is located

5. On the next screen you will see an option to "Enable Deep Scan". I recommend you leave this unchecked for now and first see if the program is able to scan the corrupted drive. Click (Start).Enable Deep Scan

6. If you see the following message click (Yes). This will run a Deep Scan and hopefully recover your files.

No files were found

If you can't locate your pendrive in step 4, or you have some other error related to accessing the pendrive, you should consider consulting your local computer technician for further assistance. They might be able to retrieve the data for you.

Dear Arthur Almanza,

Corrupted data from pen drive can be retrieved by using two methods. One is a command prompt and another is data recovery software. I am discussing here about data recovery software because it is an easy method. Just download and use it. You can use Handy Recovery 5.5.it is very small in size.

Command prompt and another is data recovery software

Thanks and Regards,

Louis
