Receiving the error message “not valid win32 application” can be caused by several factors such as:

  • The installer was not completely downloaded or download was interrupted while it was downloading.
  • While downloading the installer, the downloaded file becomes corrupted.
  • The downloaded installer file is not compatible with the operating system (it may be for another version of Windows).

Whichever is the reason, the solution is to download the installer again and make sure that you are downloading the correct version for your operating system.  You may also want to consider downloading the installer from the official Thunderbird website: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/ and try to install it again.

Hi Jehan,

May I know some more details of which OS are you using in oldapps.com? And is it 64 bit or 32 bit OS? is it Linux or Windows?

Thunderbird software comes in different flavors and in different OS versions where you need to install the compatible software. 32 bit software wont be installed on 64 bit OS systems.

  • I am correct you might have downloaded the Thunderbird Setup.exe for windows version and trying to install the same software on some other OS, solution for this you can directly download the software the from the hosting server itself. Why means the Mozilla portal itself checks for compatible downloads.

OR

  • Select the suitable and compatible version of Thunderbird software in which your oldapps.com hosting OS dwells and install.

Use the direct Mozilla download portal URL https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/ ,sometimes few null scripts or Malware may be included.

OR

This type of errors will come while transferring the software using any FTP clients to your hosting server. Use FileZilla client to transfer your exe file. or if you are uploading using the command line , make sure that you have enabled the BINARY mode option for FTP connection.

Hope you get the solution.

That error means the application you are trying to install is not compatible with your computer. I also download programs from that site if the latest version of a program is no longer compatible with my computer because they have the old versions of most programs. If you want to install Mozilla Thunderbird, download from the official website first.

Go to the Mozilla Thunderbird home page and download the latest version of the email client. The latest version at the moment supports Windows 7, Windows 8.x, and Windows 10. It requires Intel Pentium 4 or faster processor with SSE2 support, 1 GB RAM for 32-bit and 2 GB for 64-bit, and 200 MB free space.

Like all other applications that are continuously being developed and updated, the Mozilla Thunderbird email client also dropped support for Windows XP and Windows Vista. So, if your operating system is any of these, you cannot install the latest version. Regarding Mozilla Thunderbird and the OldApps.com website, I don’t think the site is still being updated.

The latest version of Mozilla Thunderbird on that website is the beta 2 version of Thunderbird 38.0 released on April 2015. What happened to all the versions after that until the version before Thunderbird 78.3.3, which is the latest, because all are missing? It’s obvious the site is no longer updated.
