Help on how to monitor modem traffic for a laptop

So I have two computers, and a ADSL modem.

What I want to do, is see exactly what is happening on my other PC, placed in another room.

I asked a friend and he said that I should look for SNMP software. Well I am no expert so I have no idea what he is talking about.

That is why I came to TechyV, hoping that you people will give me some ideas on how to monitor modem traffic in a simple way, if it is possible.

Please explain it to me step by step as I don't have a very good knowledge in the IT area.
