GTA3 hangs while playing and send an error

I am an avid fan of Rockstar games.

So I was playing Grand theft auto San Andreas then suddenly this error appeared.

Any suggestions or solutions that may help me bypass this error?

What Directory is this error pertaining to?

Do I need to reinstall the game?

Hello Matthew,

First of all you are advised to take backup of your progress in the game so that you don't have to start from scratch in case you need to remove the game from your computer and install it again.

To backup follow these steps :-

  • Go to My Documents.
  • Search for a folder named "GTA 3 User Files" (This folder contains all the instances of game you have saved while playing)
  • Copy this folder to a safe location on your hard drive. (In case you are ever required to re-install the game, just copy this folder back in My Documents and you can resume your game from where you left)

Now coming back to your original problem, these kind of missing file problems occur often with games. All you need to do is get this missing file and copy in the folder it is missing from.

You can either search for this file online or copy it from one of your friend's (or anyone else's) computer who has the same game installed and running it successfully.

Hello Matthew Davis,

From the way it looks your GTA3.IMG file is corrupted, and you need to use a fresh copy of it.
 
Keep that in mind please especially if you are playing GTA3 with MODS (if there are any).
 
Consider using IMG tool 2.0 to manage your GTA3 IMG archives.
 
 
The similar error could also be caused by lack of hard disk space.
 
Run disk cleanup and disk defrag from your computer to free up some space on your hard drive.
