Hello Guys,

I was wondering how does government act when it comes on stopping computer crimes. FBI put criminals into jail but how about intruders? They are stealing our information, pirating softwares and harming our online privacy. What is government intervention about computer crimes.

Thanks.

Government intervention about computer crimes

Hello Alexis. Right now there are about 3 proposes new laws to stop piracy, counterfeiting, and any other computer crimes. These 3 laws are SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act), Protect IP (Preventing Real Online Threats to Economic Creativity and Theft of Intellectual Property Act) and in Europe there is ACTA (Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement). These laws if there are accepted will be added to our current set of laws against computer crimes. For example in ACTA if you download an illegal file from any illegal site, you can go to jail or pay a really healthy fine. So the government if putting laws out there, some are against intruders, some against stealing data, and some will affect everyone including you and me. If you want more data about these laws you can find them in Wikipedia.
