Hello Tracy,

The changes Google has made to the search system are mainly focused on discouraging piracy by putting legitimate copyrighted content on online queries that are ranked higher. The company will soon start utilizing mechanisms that push material that is deemed pirated to a much lower position in the search results.

Google is taking that step as to heed the plea that has been put forward by the entertainment companies wanting Google to make material that has been pirated harder to trace on the internet. The new system uses removal policies, or it could as well consider complaints which a website has received in ranking search results.

Regards,

Carl
