Golden Series and FM2 Motherboards

Hi there,

First of all, let me define what a CPU socket is. It is a component that has an electrical and a mechanical connections between a printed circuit board and a microprocessor.

The FM2 motherboard is a motherboard that has an FM2 CPU socket. FM2 socket is a CPU socket that can mount an AMD microprocessor while the Golden series motherboard has a CPU socket that can mount the Intel microprocessor. This Golden series, as the name suggests, uses gold to coat the pins of the CPU socket. Gold does not oxidize and it is a very good conductor of electricity so the use of gold is expected to improve the reliability and lifespan of the motherboard.
