First, go to the "My Computer». Select your disks one by one and reproduce the following operation. Right-click on the disk and then "Properties". In the "Tools" tab, select "Check Now." I think what you want to do is check the physical health of your hard disk and that would be easy using disk utility applications. One disk utility you can use is PC Tools Performance Toolkit. Follow the instructions to download and unpack and then install it. Once installed, start PC Tools then go to “Recovery” tab and click “Repair Drives”.

On the next screen under “Select Drive Operation”, select “Surface Scan” to check the drive physically. Select the drive to check from the list then click “Start”. If you see “Drive cannot be repaired”, click “Continue” then repeat the same steps again.

When you’re back in “Repair Drive” screen, this time check “Perform on reboot” then click “Start” and then “Continue”. Restart your computer and PC Tools will diagnose your drive while booting.

After booting, start PC Tools again then go back to the “Repair Drive” screen by following the same steps. You should see the result of the test here. If you want to check the health of the partitions on the hard disk, go back to the “Repair Drive” screen and select “Check Partition Structure” then click “Start”.
