What is Jaz drive? What are differences between Jaz Drive and Zip drive? What is the storage capacity of Jaz drive? Is it internal type or external type? Where is it applied? What is SCSI controller? Why do we use the Jaz drive? Which types of file are stored here? Is Jaz drive speed equal with Hard drive? Thank You

Hello Paul!

It is a removable hard disk storage from IOMEGA. A removable hard disk with capacity of 1GB up to 2B upgraded.

Zip drive is medium-sized storage device. The available drive space is up to 100MB and eventually grown up to 750 MB.

The Jaz Drive is both can be used internally and externally. Jaz Drives are used to store files like video, audio and data formats. This is used to store unusual big files from your hard disk. This is also used to separate specific files from your hard disk.

Small Computer System Interface (SCSI) used in connecting and transferring data between computer and external drives. The drive and or write speed of Jaz is faster than Zip Drive. Jaz can transmit data 4.3 mb/s, on the other hand Zip drive can only do much of about 50kb/s.

The difference between this drives is that Jaz drive can offer bigger hard disc space and faster than Zip drive.

A Jaz drive is a small, portable hard drive designed for backing up and archiving personal computer files. This kind of drive is sold by Iomega Corporation, the same company that developed the Zip drive. Both the disks and the Jaz drive come in two sizes: 1 GB and 2 GB.

Though both of them looks the same, the 2 GB disk is not compatible with the 1 GB Jaz drive but the 2 GB Jaz drive can use both disk sizes. Internal and external Jaz drives are also available. Jaz drives use SCSI or Small Computer System Interface and requires a SCSI controller. A Zip drive, on the other hand, is the same with Jaz drive.

They just differ in sizes. A Zip drive is a small, portable disk drive used basically for backing up and archiving personal computer files. The trademarked Zip drive was developed by Iomega Corporation. Zip drives and disks also come in two sizes: 100 MB and 250 MB. The 100 megabyte size actually holds 100,431,872 bytes of data. It is the equivalent of 70 floppy disks.

The Iomega Zip drive includes a software utility that allows you to copy the entire contents of your hard drive to one or more Zip disks.
