Hello,

I am getting this error message every time I start my computer and it is unable to read a diskette, disk, or other disk in the computer. What does it mean? Have you any recommendation to fix this problem? I really need your advice as soon as possible. Thanks in advance.

Hello Lesa!

There could be a lot of causes for this error you're receiving, but you can try out some solutions that might solve your problem.

Check your BIOS settings when the computer boots (restart the computer and press F2 longer until the menu appears), and see if the S.M.A.R.T. drive is enabled. Disable it and then run your computer normally and see if it works. While you're in BIOS, you might also want to try resetting your default settings, according to what key it reads on the screen to press for doing this. Then save your changes and exit.

Still in BIOS, set your CMOS settings. The start up sequence should be like this: first the floppy drive, then CD-ROM/DVD Drive, Hard Drive and then Other. If it's not like that, change it and then restart again.

Although it may sound futile, you may want to check your cables and see if everything is in the right place.

Then, are you sure your hard drive is functioning properly? You can test it on another computer and see if you still receive the same error.

Hope any of these work for you!
