Hello experts,

Today I installed the new game MassEffect 2 on my laptop with Windows 7 recently updated and I expected that it will run smooth, without any errors. I was wrong, and I am stuck with this error, I reinstalled the game and the error is not solved. Can anyone help me to solve this and help me to play my new game?

Thank you very much!

MassEffect 2.exe – Bad Image

C:Windowssystem32XINPUT1_3.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try instailing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support.

This issue is happening because of some misconfiguration with some system components. Windows comes with various Microsoft components including .NET Framework and DirectX. These are two of the best products by Microsoft.

First of all, uninstall any .NET Framework (if installed). Then, download and install .NET Framework 4.5.1.

After the installation is complete, download and install DirectX.

After completing installation, your game should run normally with awesome performance and give you enjoyment.

Cheers!

I’m not sure what’s happening but checking the game’s system requirements doesn’t show any problem running it on Microsoft Windows 7 so I’m sure there is only minor adjustment that needs to be done on the game to make it work again. Normally, when you see an error related to a DLL file, the file is either damaged or doesn’t support the operating system.

And if the file is damaged or corrupted, the easiest way to fix it is to reinstall the game because it will normally restore all the default files. But if the file is incompatible, then the game is not compatible as well so might as well uninstall it. But to try a work around, try reinstalling it first. Uninstall Mass Effect 2 then click Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and click Disk Cleanup.

Select drive C and click OK. Check “Temporary files” and click OK then click Delete Files to confirm. Wait until it is finished and then restart the computer. Install Mass Effect 2 and then see if it works. You can also download it from Mass Effect 2 but this one is the trial version. Just enter your license key to convert it to the full version.

Mass Effect 2 supports Windows XP Service Pack 3, Windows Vista Service Pack 1, and Windows 7. You should also check if your processor can handle it. The game requires at least 1.8 GHz Core 2 Duo processor. Your graphics accelerator should support Pixel Shader 3.0 which is available in modern video cards.

In case you still can’t play it try running it as administrator. Right-click on the game’s shortcut and select Properties. Select Compatibility tab. Under Privilege Level section, check “Run this program as an administrator” and click OK. Start the game again and see if it works. If it doesn’t work, another possible reason is the wrong location of the DLL file or you just need to reinstall it.

If you are using x64 Windows 7, even if the error is triggered in “C:WINDOWSsystem32xinput1_3.dll”, the file that was actually causing the error is really located in “C:WINDOWSSysWOW64xinput1_3.dll”. So, if this happens, navigate to “C:WINDOWSSysWOW64” and delete “xinput1_3.dll”. After this, you need to reinstall Microsoft DirectX to replace the file. You can download the latest version of DirectX for your operating system from Microsoft DirectX End-User Runtimes [June 2010].
