There is a frequent error about fba.exe which is a process from Flashback. The error says d3dx9_42.dll not found. This error just shows up when I start my computer. I have been installing several programs recently and now I do not understand which program is causing this error. I would someone to tell me the exact cause of this error so that I know where to start from.
“The program can’t start because d3dx9_42.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.”
Flashback fba.exe process shows error
I believe “d3dx9_42.dll” is a library file included in DirectX of Microsoft Windows. When I first saw your question I was alarmed because you mentioned flashback in the title. If you are not aware, flashback is a Trojan virus that infects Mac OS X computers and is currently being circulated in different forms.
Please refer to SabPub Trojan strikes again on Mac for more information about the Flashback Trojan virus. But after seeing in your screenshot that you are using Microsoft Windows, then I was wrong. I also have the “fba.exe” file on my computer but it is not Flashback.
The one I have on my hard drive is FB Alpha, an arcade game emulator that I usually used to play arcade games like Alien versus Predator, Marvel Super Heroes, Marvel Super Heroes versus Street Fighter, Marvel versus Capcom – Clash of Super Heroes, and a lot more. See image.
Since the problem is only related to a missing DLL file, you can download the missing DLL file from d3dx9_42.dll Free Download. Click DOWNLOAD ZIP-FILE to download the file. See image.
Save the ZIP file in a folder then extract the contents. You need to have WinZIP or other file extractor to extract the file. Since this is a Microsoft DirectX file, copy the DLL file to “C:WINDOWSsystem32”. If this doesn’t work, copy the DLL file to the installation folder of the requesting program.
