Who remembers the time we created our first email ID. No one I guess! Remembering that email address or the mobile number associated with it can be difficult. But what to do if I want to eagerly open that email for important work and i can’t access my yahoo account?

When we sign up to create an email account, we are asked many questions like a secret question, a mobile number with an alternate one, an alternate email address. The purpose behind those questions is to allow you to access the account even when you forget the ID or password.

1) Go to yahoo.com.

2) Select ‘I don’t know my yahoo email address’.

3) They will ask you about the phone number written at the time of account creation.

4) Click yes, text me.

5) Enter the mobile number and press ‘submit’.

6) A verification code will come on that number.

7) Write the code and change the password. You can even see your email address written there.

You are also asked to fill an alternate email address, so that a backup address can be sent to you.

1) Go to yahoo.com.

2) Click I don’t know my yahoo email address.

3) They will ask you about the phone number written at the time of account creation.

4) Press ‘no do not text me’.

5) You will see an alternate email address. Click ‘yes-email me’.

6) A verification code will come on that ID.

7) Write the code and change the password.

You can even see your email address written there.

A secret question is also asked, whose answer is only known by you.

1) Open password helper.

2) Type your Yahoo ID.

3) Click on use my secret questions.

4) Enter the answer.

5) Update your password.

If you’ve been locked out from your email account because maybe you forgot your password, there is always a way to recover and gain access to your account again. But the possibility of recovering your account still depends on certain things. If you’ve added a backup email address in your account, recovering your email account is easy.

You can follow the method in the previous post if you are using a Yahoo account and then enter your backup email address to recover your account. Yahoo will send you a reset link on your backup email address which will reset the existing password. Once the password has been reset, you can then specify a new password for your account.

If you are using a FastMail account, the easiest way is to still use a backup email address to recover your account. Go to FastMail Log In to go to the login screen and click “Can’t access your account” below the log in button.

You will then be redirected to the FastMail troubleshooting page where you have options to recover your lost password. If you remember your backup email address, you can click the “lost password screen” link to have them send you a reset link to your backup email address.

On the other hand, if you don’t remember your backup email address, you need to click the “contact our support team” link to ask support on how to recover your account. You need this if you didn’t add a backup email address in your account.
