1. Try to on-off the Wi-Fi connection and try again to establish the link with the selected network.

2. Ensure that the connection is established to the right web. Check for any duplicity among the available options.

3. Modify your network settings by changing some DHCP or Static IP settings.

4. Ensure that the flight mode is off.

When you try to connect your Android phone to your Wi-Fi network at home and the device throws you an authentication error, it means you are entering the network credentials incorrectly. Before a device can connect to a Wi-Fi network, both the SSID and password must be correct. The SSID is the Wi-Fi name.

This is the name of the network you see on your phone when you search or scan for Wi-Fi networks. When connecting to a Wi-Fi network, the SSID has to be entered exactly as it is. If the characters or letters are in uppercase, you also need to enter it on your phone in uppercase. A single incorrect character will make the connection invalid.

This is the same with the password. You need to enter it exactly as it is. Aside from the password, the SSID can also serve as a form of password because the SSID can be hidden. When the owner of the Wi-Fi network makes the SSID hidden, the name of the Wi-Fi network will not appear on your phone when you scan it.

So, if you don’t know the name of the Wi-Fi network, there’s no way you can connect to it unless you already know it. You can connect to a Wi-Fi network even if the name is hidden or it doesn’t appear when you scan as long as you know the exact name.
