I installed Finale 2012. After that, it worked well for the past week.

But today when I tried to open the Setup Wizard I encountered an error “Finale cannot start the Wizard because a necessary data file (pagesizes.txt) could not be found".

Where can I find this .txt file?

The error message usually occur because of Finale family notation program cannot access its important Component Files folder. This problem commonly occurs when a Finale application file was removed from the application folder.

To get over this problem, follow these :

1. In your application folder open your Finale family application folder. (Make sure you quit all open apps)

2. Double click on Finale logo icon. If there is no logo icon in the folder and you have manually removed it from the folder (for instance to drag it to somewhere), find the icon and drag it back into this folder.

3. After you launch the app, you will notice one active icon for this program in your Dock. Control, click on this icon and just choose the Keep in Dock to create a permanent shortcut for the application.

Hello Mila,

The error that you are getting occurs when a Finale family notation program is not able to access its Component Files folder. The issue occurs  most likely when the Finale application file  has been  removed from its application folder.

To resolve the issue, you will need to do the following:

  • First, you will need to exit all open applications, including Finale, Allegro, PrintMusic, SongWriter, or NotePad.
  • After that go to Applications folder and then open your Finale family application folder.
  • In this folder, you will need to double-click on the Finale logo icon. In case there is no logo icon in this folder and you have manually removed it from this folder, you will need to locate the icon and drag it back into this folder.
  • After you have launched the application, you should see an active icon for this program in your Dock.
  • Just control-click on this icon and then select Keep in Dock to create a permanent shortcut to the application.

Regards,

Carl

Hi there user:

There may be building confusion on your computer. Let the unit breathe by closing all software application.

I’m pretty sure, that’s the main problem why the error occurred. Now open your set up wizard.

Go to the folder to where the application is. Create a shortcut; make a shortcut that will hang-on your screen along the progress. Double-click the logo to launch the application. Lastly, manage a control-click to keep in DOCK.

I hope it’ll be all clear when you have done these steps.

Best regards,
