Hi. Please help me solve my problem with CPU-Z.

I was in the middle of my work when this error popped up saying: An error occurred when opening the driver.

CPU-Z will launch but not all information will be available.

After that error some of my data becomes hidden.

I tried restarting my computer and it would work smoothly in few minutes.

But after that, the same error message popped up again.

And I need to restart my computer again to make it work.

Please I need some help.

Driver Error

An error occured when opening the driver. CPU-Z will launch but not all information will be available.

Hi,

May be your CPU-Z version does not have the "cpuz.sys" file (and It has the "cpuz.exe" and "cpuz-readme.txt" only).
The cpuz.sys is to be temporarily created every time CPUZ is run and when CPU-Z is closed, it is to be deleted.

You may try the steps given below to avoid your problem;

  • Run CPU-Z in your "real" XP.
  • See whether the "cpuz.sys"  file is created.
  • Copy this created file into a separate folder.
  • Close CPU-Z.
  • See whether the "cpuz.sys" file which was created in the CPU-Z directory has been deleted while the "cpuz.sys" that you copied into the separate folder remains.
  • Move that file into the plugin/space folder.
  • In the “cpuz.inf” file, comment the line of the "cpuz.vxd" as in the line shown below in bold:

cpuz.exe=a,,1
cpuz.sys=a,,1
;cpuz.vxd=a,,1
cpuz-readme.txt=a,,1

 Hope it works out right.

Well if not, you may also try uninstalling your CPU-Z and reinstalling it.

I hope the link given will be useful as well.

Well, cpu-z is a great program.

Uninstalling and reinstalling it definitely works better.
