Hello, I tried to move a document file with .FM extension to iPad via iTunes and some modifications were made. Then the file was transferred back via iTunes and saved to my iMacBook folder. However, when the file was trying to open, an error message appeared and it said the file could not be opened. The welcome window of FileMaker Pro could be opened.

Please find attached the screenshot of the error message for your reference. Any expert could help me to solve this error please? Thanks a lot. Have a nice day.

The document “Eva’s books Converted.fmp12” could not be opened

Hi Thomas,

Try this one,

Choice A

1. Open or launch your filemaker pro first

2. Drag or double click a file to launch.

Choice B

1. If you are a user of FileMaker pro 11 and earlier and you have a fmp12 file, you can't really open or launch it because of its incompatibility. You can install both FileMaker pro 11 and 12 at the same time , since they are a separate application. But you can only run one application at a time. With this, you will able to open a file in FileMaker pro 11 that are not compatible in FileMaker pro12.

Thanks
