I want to try playing some online games because I’m getting bored with all the games I have on my computer which are all offline games. While searching for a possible game, I saw “Cabal Online”. I download the client and installed it since the game is compatible with my computer.

But there was a problem after the installation. I receive a message that the file “cabal.enc” is corrupt when I start the game. I didn’t receive any error during the installation so why the file would be corrupt. Any help on this is appreciated.

File “cabal.enc” Is Corrupt

I also have Cabal Online on my computer which I installed back in January. I also encountered an error the first time I started the game but I’m not sure if it was with the same file but I’m sure it is an ENC file. With Cabal, the most common cause why a file becomes corrupted is the antivirus.

This can happen when you install the game while the antivirus is running or active. I’m not sure why file corruption is common when installing this game with the antivirus running. To fix the problem, you can copy the missing or corrupt file from a working installation maybe from another player. Another way is to reinstall the game with your antivirus deactivated.

First, disable your antivirus temporarily. Right-click your antivirus on the system tray then select to disable it temporarily. Next, with Cabal still installed, double-click the installer then install Cabal again. This will just overwrite the files in the existing installation. This should fix the problem with the corrupt ENC file. The file is located in “C:\Program Files (x86)\CABAL Online (NA – Global)\Data\cabal.enc”.
