Hello Caena,

The answer to your question is pretty straight forward. Almost all the modern laptops and the notebooks now offer WiFi as a standard mode of connection.

WiFi is a technology like your wireless keyboard uses radio waves to transmit data back and forward between two devices connected in a computer network; it enables to connect it to computers without wires, let me discuss WiFi in detail. In WiFi there are 4 types of signal/modes of transfer which are 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g, 802.11n.

The first one being the most expensive one works on 5 GHz with a top speed of 54 Mbps and has a relatively small range, 802.11b has a range of over 300 ft. Works on 2.4 GHz and is fairly inexpensive most laptops come with this an its speed is 11 Mbps, 802.11g works on the same frequency of 801.11b but has a smaller range but its top speed is 108 Mbps and makes it the top choice while the top end 802.11n is still incomplete and not very easily available in the market however, it has a top speed of over 300 Mbps and is quite reliable but works on 40 MHz frequency.

This is because all laptops are equipped with wireless network adapter or the Wi-Fi adapter that makes it possible for them to connect anywhere where there is a Wi-Fi reception like in the malls, in schools, or in different establishments that offer free Wi-Fi access. Laptops are flexible types of computers because they are originally built with Wi-Fi and regular network interface adapters which immediately give them the ability to connect either wirelessly or through the local area network using the LAN card.

Unlike in the usual desktop computer, most are not equipped with Wi-Fi adapters because they are meant to connect to the usual local area network because of its bulky size and immovability. Laptops are designed like that maybe also because of its portable design and less weight where you can easily move it anywhere in the house since it doesn’t require to be always connected to the AC power because it is powered by a battery.

Hello friends take my heartfelt gratitude. Both of your explanations help me to know more about WI-Fi. I wondered how Wi-Fi works without any type of cable where even a modem needs to be connected with a wired USB cable. It’s really amazing how I have understood everything so clearly with your nice explanations. I especially want to thank Sharath for his super explanation regarding the Wi-Fi connection. He analyzed deeply on laptop Wi-Fi technology. I really like your comment for helping me understand everything so clearly. You are so very genius and am satisfied with your great comments. I am very pleased. Thanks a lot, Sharath.
