If email contacts are not that important to you can do this: close Evolution and delete /home/username/.gconf/apps/evolution/addressbook and /home/username/.evolution/addressbook then reboot your computer. Restart your Evolution and all the faulty files are already deleted.

If you want your contacts save, you can try another method. Reboot with 9.10 Evolution and disconnect to the internet. Start evolution and restore it from back up. Go to Contacts, then on Edit, choose Select All. On the File Menu, Save address book as vcard.

Then choose a location where you can access it after your computer boots backup off hdd. Reboot your PC and remove the 9.10 cd so that your PC will go back to 9.4 off hdd then restart evolution. Click on Contacts then on File Import single file. Choose the list.vcf file you've created then choose Import to Personal.
