Depending upon the usage there are two solutions to your problem.

First.

  1. Close TeamViewer.
  2. Open the start menu, and from the Run dialogue box type “%appdata%” and press enter.
  3. Locate the TeamViewer folder and delete all of its contents.
  4. If you are using LAN, change the IP address of your computer.
  5. Now restart your system and try running the TeamViewer application.

Second (Windows 7 or Vista users)

  1. We need to disable the User Access Controls (UAC)
  2. From the start menu, in the run dialogue box, type “msconfig”
  3. A dialogue box appears. From the Tools tab, search for the toggle button to enable/disable UAC. Flick this button to appropriate position.

Now restart your computer and try running TeamViewer.

With TeamViewer, you can connect remotely to another computer and provide assistance using the internet. But this is only possible if both computers have TeamViewer installed and the application is running on both computers. You cannot connect to the other machine if TeamViewer itself is not running on that computer.

If the application is not running, you need to ask the user to run the application and be able to establish connection. Also, since TeamViewer is internet-based, both computers have to be connected to the internet. Since your TeamViewer prompts you with a connection-related error, make sure your computer and the other computer are both connected to the internet.

Once both computers are online, check if the TeamViewer application is running on the other machine. If it is not, ask someone to run it. Once it is running, try establishing a connection again. Since you are using TeamViewer, also try TeamViewer Portable.
