Hello Leonard T Mack,

To delete a file you need to make sure the following things.

1. File must be closed before deleting, if it is open then close it before deleting.

2. Before delete any file, make sure antivirus scanner is not running that time.

3. You can check whether file is running or not by going to Task Manager. If it is running then stop the program.

Hope this will solve your problem.

Hi Leonard,

It seems that the file you're trying to delete is in use thus you need to do the following:

  • Close the Word program. If you're shared network, probably that there's another user who's accessing the file. Make sure that it has been closed in all network.
  • "End Process" the Word application in the Windows Task Manager window.
  • Restart your desktop and never open a new application. Upon opening your desktop, check the Windows Task Manager window. Verify if the application Word is running. If yes, select the application then "End Process" button.

Hope this helps.
