Hi guys,

Have a look at the error message attached below. I received this error message while creating a new document with the Microsoft OneNote 2010 template in Microsoft SharePoint Foundation 2010 server. I think my new document library has encountered a problem. If you have any idea for the error message, please let me know.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Abrianna,

This also happens with other Word document application, some say that this is caused by a user credentials and would suggest you to install a applet for it. However, this is caused by an add-in, SSRS 2012 Add-in for your Sharepoint which is not installed correctly. You need to reinstall the Add-in and this should resolve the problem.

I assumed you are running Windows 7 64 bit, right? First, we need to check if you are using a compatible browser version. Are you running a 32 or 64 bit of browser. Internet Explorer 32-bit is compatible with this. To know your browser version, click on Browser> Help button and then go to About IE section.

Next is to check if you are running a compatible Office version. Remember that SharePoint 2010 is compatible with Office 2010 or if you are running a 2007 version, it is best with Office 2007 also.

Another way is to check on MS SharePoint Foundation Support in MS Office if its installed or not. Just go to MS Office> Office Tools and then Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Support.

If it's not installed, try to fix it by doing the following steps:

1. Go to Control Panel and then select Programs and Features.

2. Choose MS Office 2010 and then select Change Option and Add/Remove Features.

3. You need to make sure that the option is selected to "Run from My Computer".

4. Run the installation.

Next is to check on IE ActiveX Control. The New Document feature on IE works when starting the 64-bit ActiveX Control. To verify it:

Launch Internet Explorer and then select Tools and go to Internet Options. Click the Manage add-ons button under the Programs tab.

Select All Add-ons on the next window.

When the list on the right pane is refreshed, locate the SharePoint OpenDocuments Class and ensure that the version 14.0 is enabled.

Once everything is ensured, you can now test the feature again. Launch the SharePoint site and then go to Library. Choose Document tab and then click on New Document button.

You will be prompted with a dialog box stating that there are some files that can harm your computer with filename template.dotx from hp. This will occur since template.dotx will be launched by MS Word locally. Just click on the OK button to continue.

You can now see the new document has been created with MS Word.
