I was unable to install Norton Internet Security (NIS) 2012.

I encountered an error repetitively.

It says “NISDownloader.exe, Unable to locate DLL”.

How can I continue with the installation without getting this error?

The error occurred because you have a missing file (gdiplus.dll).

Use this link to download the dll file. Download it then rename it to gdiplus.dll Copy that file to C:WindowsSystem32 [Please make sure you keep a backup copy of the file which you will overwrite when copying]

Then reboot the system ,

Hope it works.

If it didn't then do the following :-

1. Click start and then Run ( or press windows key +r)

2. Just type CMD and hit Enter

3. Type regsvr32 gdiplus.dll and hit Enter.

Try rebooting again.

That problem is related to the “gdiplus.dll” file and is really not common and only few users encountered it. Before downloading Norton Internet Security 2012, make sure your computer meets the requirements.

Norton Internet Security 2012 supports Windows XP (Home, Professional, Tablet PC, or Media Center edition) Service Pack 2 or higher 32-bit only, Windows Vista (Starter, Home Basic, Home Premium, Business, or Ultimate edition) Service Pack 1 or higher, and Windows 7 (Starter, Home Basic, Home Premium, Professional, or Ultimate edition) both 32-bit and 64-bit.

It requires 300 MHz or faster processor, 256 MB RAM, and 300 MB free hard drive space. If the instructions on the previous post did not work, make sure you download Norton Internet Security from the official website. Also, since that version is already old, might as well download the latest version, Norton Security Deluxe. It is the combination of the Norton Antivirus and the Norton Internet Security.

Symantec merge the two applications into one creating the new Norton Security Deluxe. Norton Internet Security and Norton Antivirus are gone. Norton Security Deluxe supports Windows XP Service Pack 3 (32-bit only), Windows Vista Service Pack 1, Windows 7 Service Pack 1, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10 both 32-bit and 64-bit.
