DearMitzi lu,

According to the error you received, it seems that the installer has not the sufficient privileges. In order to solve this issue, please follow these steps:

  • Click "Start -> Computer".
  • Place the software CD in your CD/DVD drive. Right click the CD icon and click "Explore".
  • Copy the file SAVWin64VISTA to your desktop.
  • Click "Start" and in the search box type cmd and press ctrl+shift+enter.
  • Click continue for the "Windows Command Processor".
  • Copy this text into cmd with quotations: "%USERPROFILE%DesktopSAVWin64Vistax64Symantec AntiVirus Win64.msi" and press Enter.
  • Now, your installation should run without errors.

Hope this may help you.

Best of luck.

Dear Mitzi,

The error occurs because when Windows updates are running or just finished and an already run application needs system restart.

What you need to do it is just to –

1. Finish the application running,

2. Restart your computer,

3. Put the CD in driver,

4. Install the anti-virus software again.

I think that shall help.
