Hi TechyV buddies!

I am having some trouble in accessing my Hotmail account in outlook 2010 using Hotmail connection 32-bit. Every time I open my Hotmail account in outlook201 0, I end up receiving an error 4202. The message error is this:

'Task {removed email address} reported error (0x80004005): There is an error synchronizing your mail account. Please verify your account is configured correctly by first accessing your mail on the web. Error: 4202.'

Can anyone help me solve this problem? I would really appreciate any help. Thank you!

Error 4202 when accessing hotmail account in outlook 2010

Hello Alex,

The error you are getting occurs when synchronizing junk email lists which have got Safe Senders, Blocked Senders, Safe Recipients. In the event that same email address is used in both the Safe Senders as well as in the Blocked senders lists the error occurs.

To resolve that issue, you will need to follow the steps below:

  • In Outlook, you will need to navigate to the OLC account by displaying the OLC inbox.
  • And then you will access the ribbon, and then select Junk followed by Junk Mail Options.
  • Go to the Safe Senders as well as the Blocked Senders tab and find  any addresses or domains that are listed in both lists.
  • You will need to get rid of these conflicts from both lists.
  • In  case you don't see any conflicts, you will need to log onto the Hotmail account on the web.
  • After that you should view the hotmail inbox and then select Options, followed by More Options to the top right of the inbox.
  • Go to the Junk E-mail, and then choose “Safe & Blocked Senders”.
  • Search for the addresses that are listed in both lists and then remove them.
  • You will need to sync Outlook and then make sure that error does not appear again.

Regards,

Carl
