Hi,

I tried to install AVG free antivirus. It was installing well. However, after sometime it stopped throwing an error message “Error 0x800736b1”. What does it mean? My machine is running with Windows 7. Have you any idea?

Please help me solve the problem.

Hi there user:

This is a minor to major interference of your AVG Antivirus and the previous or old antivirus installed in your computer.  Antivirus software should thoroughly install their drivers into the OS to be more efficient.

Clearly, the uninstalled software is still in effect to the newly installed programs in your unit. To get rid of this concern, click Control Panel and go to Add/Remove Programs. Uninstall the programs you think are being associated with your uninstalled antivirus. You may select icons and tools you see from the list. And when done, resume to the installation of your AVG Antivirus. And all is well.

Thank you for posting your query.

Best regards,
