Error 0x8007007B while doing System Restore on Windows 7

I got two error messages while I was checking my System Restore status.

My system shut itself down while I was doing system check.

When I started it again, I got this first error message:

When I hit the OK button, I got another error message shown below:

I have just installed Windows 7 RTM. I want to know whether I am the only one experiencing this error or there is someone else around too. Please help.

The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect. (0x8007007B)       
       
There was an unexpected error in the property page.        
The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.

Please close the property page and try again.

The issue here is the Windows activation will not run and gives the error you posted the details for.  

I will wait for your reply to this clarification so as not to clutter up this thread and waste your time chasing something that is not the issue.

I hope that makes things clearer.

Error 0x8007007B while doing System Restore on Windows 7

Hi Moria,

To solve this issue, there are a few things we need to fix in the system:

A. In the Start menu’s search box enter this code:  sysdm.cpl

Hit Enter.

B. The System Properties dialog box will appear.

C. Click System Protection tab and check if there are any invalid locations under the Automatic Restore points, if there are, kindly uncheck it and click OK.

This should make it work.
