I have searched for this but I couldn't find something related.
Every time I try to drag and drop an item, such as email and calendar item, among others, from MS Outlook 2007 to a MS Word 2007 document, both of the programs hang.
Any thoughts on what could be causing the error, or which among the programs is the root of the problem?

Here are a few solutions:
1- There might be problem of virtual memory of your computer it might be minimum, which might cause computer freeze problem.
2- Check for more memory to a computer.
3- You can try reinstalling the program.

You are searching the internet for a problem that actually with your antivirus. And you are thinking that there is some compatibility issue or something else. Both the programs are from the same vendor. So nothing should go odd. Simply disable your antivirus program and try it now. Actually what happens is antivirus program is treating it as some malicious activity. As if there is any compatibility issue, the second program should hang or stop working. Secondly, please do not directly open program, like dragging ms outlook email in open shortcut. First run ms office, open a new document and then do this.
Also check your drag and drop settings in both programs. You can go to Microsoft website and follow the procedure.
