Hi Catlin Bred,

Actually .zip or .rar files are really very sensitive file. When you download or copy these files from anywhere and if there are any file missing then that file cannot be extracted. Because it is compressed file, one file misses mean it cannot be able to extract.

Sometimes it also occurs in the activation code. So, If it shows a message for activation code then you should collect one.

There is another solution is uninstall the WinRAR and install again.

Good luck

Hello Caltin Bred,

When you extract zip files using Winrar software, most of the times it executes well.

But some zip files are password protected and you need to enter that password before you can unzip them.

You can get that password from where you downloaded that zip file.

Make sure your zip file is not damaged.

If damaged obtain fresh copy.

Please always use the latest version of winrar software.

Please refer to the following URL for more details,

Hope this helps you.

Thanks,

If you receive an error when extracting or unpacking a ZIP file, see if the error is related to password. If the ZIP file is protected with a password, you will need to provide the correct password when unpacking the file. The password is the archive’s own protection against unauthorized access. Entering a wrong password will trigger an error and will not unpack the file.

If the error is different and not related to password, it is possible that the archive is damaged or corrupt. When this happens, you will normally see an error related to CRC. When your archive has a CRC error, there’s no way you can successfully unpack the file.

WinRAR has a repair feature that will attempt to repair broken archives but when I tried it before, I was able to indeed unpack the broken archive but the files contained are still corrupt. Also, try unpacking the ZIP files with 7-Zip. Unlike WinRAR which is normally offered as a trial version, 7-Zip is totally free.

Aside from that, 7-Zip offers a much higher compression ratio compared to WinRAR and WinZip.
