Well, I would tell you that MKV format is supported in VLC media player. Today, the driver updates of the system and the software updates of the particular software allows you to play MKV files in VLC media player. There are two ways to play MKV files in VLC media player.
1.) Download the latest version of the LC media player as it is completely compatible with the system and allows you to play MKV format files in it.
2.) Convert the MKV files in mp4 format. Either don’t download the files in MKV format or you can convert it through convertors present online or can download any convertor app.

To make sure the file is supported, download the latest VLC media player and upgrade your existing version. This makes sure that the MKV file format is playable on your computer.
