Again and again I disconnect my phone (Galaxy S4) from the net and switch off the wi-fi. But to my annoyance, it gets on again by itself and start searching for any networks available. Then the pop up message appears saying " connection failed". PLease can any one tell me what has suddenly gone wrong with my new S4? How can I switch off the wi-fi without getting any pop ups? I would like it to remain manual, so whenever I wish, I connect it to the network.

Hi Danny,

Nothing is wrong with your Galaxy S4; most phones using Android continuously search for Wi-Fi networks, which actually provide better information on the location, even if you have it turned off. You can switch off the Wi-Fi without getting any pop ups by launching the settings application and tapping on the “Wi-Fi” option which is under “wireless and networks”. Go on by tapping on the “menu” button, which is located in the lower right corner and select “Advanced”. You will see a check-box next to "Scanning always available", uncheck it and your Galaxy S4 will no longer have the same problem.
