Disable Login Sound for Ubuntu

Hello experts! Is there a way to disable the Login sounds in Ubuntu? I was in a public WiFi hotspot and everyone turned their heads towards me when they heard the Ubuntu Login sound.  It's really embarrassing and nothing's worse than booting the laptop in a public place and subjecting around you to the Ubuntu login sounds.  So if there are simple steps to follow, I would be glad to disable it for good.  Or is there a way to change the sound to a windows login sound?

You can turn off the sounds by going to your volume controls and clicking mute or turning it down to a more desired level.  If you plug in your headphones, that will also mute the sound as the sound will go through the headphones instead of the speakers.  You can also go to the control panel – hardware and sound – change sounds.  You can even download themes from the internet and they will have sounds for when your OS opens.  This is just one of the sites: http://www.ubuntuthemes.org

In the theme you can choose to keep or get rid of the backgrounds, sounds, and screensavers.  You can make your computer completely customized depending on your budget.  Hope this helps and hope you are no longer embarrassed when you log into your computer at public areas.
